Neither can I locate the 1st character. From where did you see it ? The 2nd one is also a rare character. You're naming your child ? :)

I use 昧 for bē (cannot) and 未 buē (not yet) in Penang variant......

昧曉 - bē-hiáu
昧使 - bē-sái

Hi vinc1281: I am glad to know that you and your wife intend to preserve our culture by spelling your baby's name in ancestral language. ^_^ However, it's quite risky if you provide just phonetic of Mandarin without Chinese characters. The possible syllables in Mandarin are lesser by 50% than Hokkie...

Something stroked me today. I remember someone asked me about why people say 無要緊 as bō-iau-kín and sometimes bō-iang-kín......

Would it be 無用緊 ? Chinese Malaysians often say 不用緊 instead of 不要緊, I suppose it's simply bō-iong-kín...... ^^

Dear Yeleixingfeng: Because it's not 龍尾...... :P Paya Terubong is called 壟尾 lióng-bué and the " i " is usually omitted, so it sounds like lóng-bué . In Mandarin, it's lǒng-wěi so you will hear it as lóng-wěi . Bayan Lepas, Bayan Baru or Batu Maung are all Malay names. There was somehow an ...
