If expressing some sort of surprise, or stressing the unusual/dramatic nature of the change, one can use the modal particle "sua1" (sandhied tone): "i e tau-mO sua pien pEh khi". Does anyone know the hanzi for this "sua"?

Yours is acceptable in my variant (i e-sai cau kha kin ker gua). Yet 'e-sai' is more about permission, so we can just say 'e' (drop 'sai'). To be more "natural", I would say: i e cau pi gua kha kin.

There is of course also 'sam3-seng1' (sam written with sandhi-tone), which has been borrowed into Malay. Again, here, I wouldn't be very confident to say what the precise difference between 'sam3-seng1' and the other three are.
