Sau Chiao - Round Kick.
Dear Members I have a book about a gungfu style called Shaolin Lohan fist. However, this particular lineage is from Malaysia and practiced by Hokkien speakers. One kicking technique is termed in English as 'Round Kick', and spelt 'sau chiao' , but unfortunately, no Chinese characters are presented. ...

Re: Hokkien Pronounciation.
If you're talking about literary pronunciations, there's not going to be much of a differencc between this forum's "Hokkien" and the languages spoken in Hokciu 福州 or 福清 "Hockchia" or 莆田 Henghwa. In fact, there's not even going to be much of a difference vs Korean, tones aside. I...

Hokkien Pronounciation.
Dear Members
I am researching these three Chinese characters:
力 手 元
Pronounced li shou yuan in Manderin, or 'power hand ancient' in English.
I would be very grateful if anyone could provide me with a Hokkien translation?
Thank you.

Re: Kakei - Stick hands.
Dear Xng Thank you for your excellent help! And thank you for your informative repky. You are correct of course, nian c'iu sounds nothing like kakei - and yet the Goju men insist that it originally meant 'sticky hands', and was a Hokkien term. Obvioulsy there is missing envidence. Hi Xng!
Thank you for your reply - it is all useful. By the way, as a matter of interest, how is 黐手 pronounced in Hokkien?
Thank you.
