I have just bought a booklet from Beijing about minnanhua 临时急需 and just cost 7元, and it's an interesting booklet for those who are just starting to appreciate the minnanhua and culture. I have also stop by in Xiamen, for those who never been there, it's a Grade-A city in China, even China's capital is 10 years behind Xiamen, that is of course from my point of view you have to see it to believe it. Anyway, I have talk to my cousins and relatives in Hong Kong, Xiamen and Jinjiang about minnanhua, all of them can speak the minnanhua fluently, but the problem non can if write it! What? Yes, this a big problem I even ask about the simple word lan-lang, non of them can even write it for me. So if anyone can tell if this is the correct word for lan-lang 咱郎 I would be very grateful.

Some people write lan2-lang5 as 咱郎 and some 咱人. I like the latter. I don't think that 郎 (lang2 in Mandarin) is lang5 (=human) in Hokkien but long5 (literary) or nng5 (colloquial) http://home.kimo.com.tw/profliim/HARNJI-YM/zh7Q.htm#7 .

thanks for the reply, but for confirmation, in the booklet i have mention, there are a lot of entry about 郎, and one of them is this, 你是哪里人？(putonghua) 汝是叨落郎？(li si do lo lang)? and they have a lot of entries on this 郎。一个人走很危险吗？（pth）自己一郎行会危险未？（ga gi zit lang gnia we ggui hiam bbue）, they indicate "lang" as a person here? and here's another one 你们有多少人？（pth）恁有几郎？（lin wu gui lang）.
I'm not sure who's right, but for me this are one of the many problem we are facing, there are no real source of information. As we all know our ancestors left there hometown without proper education. But, during my stay in Xiamen, there is this program at night where they teach minnanhua, I can't really recall the character they teach, but it would a good idea that someone distribute this program in south east asia.

?z is the correct hanzi but 郎 and 人 are both only 训读字 which means it is borrowed from mandarin hanzi for us to understand it as human.
Just wait for a year for a complete minnanfangyandacidian to be published.Then find where your grandparents original place and follow that book to speak minnan.You don't have to learn xiamen if you are from chuanchiu.
I think this 3 millions hanzi dict is without proverb because threre are books from china about this.

I think some people use 郎 for lang5 (human) because they are more familiar with Mandarin and using this character because it's lang2 in Mandarin (tone 2 in Mandarin corresponds with tone 5 in Hokkien). 郎 is never pronounced as lang5 in proper Hokkien, but nng5 or long5. One of its meanings is man (male) but not human.
Hong, it's possible that 侬 is the original character of lang5 (human) but its current meaning in Mandarin or other dialects is quite far from this. As 汉字 hanji emphasizes more on meaning than sound, I prefer 人 as the proper character for lang5 (lit: jin5).

I am from Penang. And I do agree with you that Xiamen is an excellent city -paradize in fact, and very clean. The atmosphere over was amazingly like Penang, you know th seaside and old colonial architecture on it. And hmmm, the sea breeze and the food - "the lohbak" and the "pohpiah" are all there, not to mention owa-chien.
Even the old ladies there talked like my grandmother talked. It was amazing.

thanks for the reply, i'm originally from hong kong, but both of my parents are from the fujian, that is why i have a great attachment to the culture that my 母语, the food we eat are minnan, the thinking is of course minnan in some way. But, before we start a society we must first look at the objective and mission, this of course to teach ourself and the next generation what are minnan culture, now that there are a lot migration going in china, more than ever before, I'm afraid in a few years time the culture will be more difficult to differentiate from the rest of china's other cities culture. First, we must identify what are compose of the cultures, is it language, literature, custom and tradition such as marriage and other special occassion and of course art and architecture. then need to include some 华侨 and 华裔 culture as well.

Not too long ago, I was working in Singapore. My Singaporean colleagues and I met an engineer from Hong Kong. We thought he only understood Cantonese. My colleagues and I used to talk in Hokkien even in his presence, thinking that he could not understand one bit. Then one day, we went to a coffee shop, and he ordered a cup of tea in perfect "Hokkien". Ooops! He said he was a Shanghainese Hokkien that that emigrated to Hong Kong, then to Singapore.
