Andrew, I agree that it's better to use a uniform encoding in this forum. Personally I prefer Big5 (Traditional Chinese characters). I noticed that GB also have TC beside SC but my GB input can't write TC.

I actually have troubles viewing the chinese words in this forums/internet as well. I am using company computer and cannot install any language packages for windows. NJStar (Nan2 Ji2 Xing1), a chinese word processing software is curretnly doing the job for me. But it can't differentiate traditional and simplified writings. If I select simplified option, all the words typed ewither in traditional characters and simplified characters are viewed in simplified form, vice versa.

I read somewhere about using Unicode to view the words. I treid it with no success.

Is there anyway to view both form of chinese characters simultaneously?

I first thought that window pro has a cdrom downloaded for both chinese font into pc but it still cannot work properly for IE but I like microsoft input for window pro.

Dear Sim and Niu,
I am too lazy to read and overlook there is an article by 3 scholars(1995) in chinese.pku....5408 about words shared by three sects -it mentioned chuanchiu people do use gam for suitable along with cantonese and hakka.That article said the normal hanzi for this ngam in both cantonese/hakka is wrong.
I think the correct hanzi could be a bit like hanzi 我 ( me) based on the initial consonant in it .ng in cantonese=g in minnan.
That article didn't say xiamen and chiangchiu use gam

I checked the "Putong Hua Minnan Fangyan Cidian" 普通话闽南方言词典for "gam1". It shows a Hanzi "品(上)+山(下)“ (pronounced as yan2 in Mandarin) meaning very close human relationship亲昵.

I can type this word using microsoft input ? and online dict says it is like 岩 and 严..one minnan dict gives 岩 has bai du gam.we are looking it to mean 刚好
