"try"

Post by Kelly »

How do you say "I don't try to be funny." It's not si/si guo since that means to sample/test out. "try" in this case would mean I don't put an effort to do something... such as in the first example or "I don't try to laugh a lot." or "I try to not eat a lot."

In a little more detail, sam1 or heart means 'one's intent', so ngo mo sam means that "I didn't do it with intent".

m-seong 唔想 can be used sometimes in the same context, "no wanting to", which is what I guess Kelly may have been after.

I try to not eat a lot, would be something like,
ngo dou m seong sik gam doh.
