Hi,
I was hoping that somebody would be able to answer this question for me:
what does "bat yue" mean and how do you write it?
Most likely you'll need a context in order to help me, so here is a link to a website (in my opinion, hilarious!) that teaches "useful" Cantonese. In my opinion, using these "useful phrases" in Hong Kong or to any Chinese person will get you into a nice argument or into trouble!
http://www.humorlinks.com/doubletake/ba ... tonese.htm
The "bat yue" is located in the audio clip for "Finalizing the Deal".
Thanks
Sassy
P.S.: Could someone also write out the Cantonese featured on the following site?
http://www.unique.net/~yan/cantonese.html
I'm just trying to compile for myself a little collection of Cantonese slang and Cantonese characters for my own curiosity and personal use! However, some of the words I am not sure of so I am seeking help in determining them...
More help with writing cantonese please! :-)
Re: More help with writing cantonese please! :-)
Hi,
It sounds more like "but yue" and it means "how about" In the ex. I see you don't have a gold watch how about I give you mine.
I don't not sure what "yue" character is used. The "but" is the Mandarin pinyin of bu. It's a negative - ex. Hao bu hao?
Hope this helps!

I've looked at that site Boy is the Cantonese romanization strange.
I've done the first few will work out the rest for you later. (I've used YALE romanization, much easier...I think)
