I heard china's news as luan 軟 for software or microsoft company. However, malaysian news use baidu as nng.

Hong,

What has this got to do with Easter greetings or greetings to any one in this Forum? It makes a mess of the Forum if postings on any topic are simply posted in any other topic because the poster hasn't taken the effort to make a new topic or decide under which old topic he or she should post.

sim,
Please look above posts which have nothing to do with easter--like engwai saying he is absent, andrew and casey saying they can't access to this site.
Not me who start this
This forum is about learning minnan but you and niuc keep on sending happy new year ,x'mas ,etc which have nothing to do with minnan learning.
First ask yourself why you want send those posts .
any kind of post about minnan language are good as long as it is not like hakka forium which is almost dead.

Hi Hong,

As we all know, topics can drift from the initial thread they started from. I'm wouldn't complain about that. So this topic started as an Easter greeting, and slowly evolved into a general hello and checking-in post.

Your reply was related to real linguistics (which is very welcome, more welcome than general hello posts), but I felt it would be better under a heading directly relevant to the content.

Cheers,
Sim.

Just be more chin-chai(whatever) or chiangchiu should be khin-chai about the topic. Not every chiangchiu say khin chai ,I was told..
I know that I will not send post like Happy Wesak day .People like niu won't be happy about that.

Dear Hong :)

I don't know why did you arrive at such a conclusion! Did I ever say or show that I am anti-Buddhism or other religions? How could you say that if you send a Happy Vesak greeting, I won't be happy? If I posted some Christmas/Easter greetings or Bible verses in Hokkien, did it automatically make me a bigot? Did I ever show displeasure regarding any greetings or any postings? I really wonder why. Please clarify! Thank you.

I posted some Bible verses or Christmas/Easter greetings in Hokkien, beside as greetings also to show Hokkien version of those greeting or verses. Even if they are irrelevant to you, there are other people who can learn from those posts. I admire your zeal for Minnan learning, but please understand that there are many ways to learn a language, including in saying hello.

If you want to post Vesak day greeting or Buddhism vocabularies in Hokkien, who will object? :)

Dear Niu,
I didn't say you or anyone are anti-buddhism and I am not anti christian.I agree sending greeting post in minnan can help some people to learn a few words but how many words we can say other the same old words. It is very boring. We had better spend hours on search engine for some useful posts.
Thanks for your private email about gongxifachai but I can't be rich with this kind of greeting(that is a fact).
I don't think we should argue over this silly topic .I certainly not going to start a topic for happy vesak greeting because I respect this forum(you don't have to agree about this)
some forum is even worse.See pkucn.com minnan part with the guy from taiwan sending photo just for us to know his face. That is total waste of space.
