不知道這裡的高手可否指點下小弟怎麼寫 廣東話裡的“蟑螂” 兩個字

我記得好像有 “甲”為兩個字一部份而兩個字都非常相似。

粵拼應該是 gaat6 zaat2

Dear Joe,

I don’t know if you can see these characters. It is in GB encoding.

曱甴 = cockroach

In the only Cantonese dictionary that I have, “The Right Word in Cantonese” by Kwan Choi Wah, Ms. Kwan gives a Yale romanisation of gaahk jaat for cockroach. So, I had a hard time finding the first character in the dictionary at this site. The dictionary at this site has a Yale romanisation of gaat8 and a Jyut Ping romanisation of gaat6 for the first character. The second character has a Yale romanisation of Jaat3 and jaat8, and a Jyut Ping romanisation of zaat2 and zaat6. So it agrees with your Jyut Ping romanisation.

If you know how to use the dictionary at this web site you can find the characters. Use the English input to see both characters on the same page.

Or

Here is a link to the first character:

Here is a link to the second character:

Yes, that pronunciation is very odd. I
haven't seen that pronunciation anywhere
else--it may simply a typo or
hypercorrection (since for some people,
-k's are becoming -t's). I've seen ga jaat, though (sorry, don't remember what the tones were), but that was in a 19th c. book.

This is the present order, although in the
past people wrote them in the reverse order
(i.e., U+7534 for gaat and U+66F1 for jaat).
Some may still write it in the old order.
The present order seems to make more sense
(U+66F1 looks more like gaap 'shell, which
is closer to gaat than jaat), but why the
other order in the first place?

如果你的電腦裝有微軟拼音輸入法。也可以用漢語拼音輸入“曱甴”。
曱:為yue2 而 甴:為you2。
多數日常用的“港字”“粵字”都能夠用微軟拼音輸入法輸入。
當然仍有幾個找不到的粵字。如果大家想知道別的粵字的拼音輸入法,隨時都可以問我。

Take care
