Pretty Girl?

There is a hokkien phrase: "chio bu" which some says refer to "pretty or sexy girl".

I would like to clarify what does the "chio bu" really means.

Is it 鶖母 or 俏母?

Appreciate if anyone could advise the correct translation. Thank you

I don't think this means pretty girl but 好色的女人 since chhio1哥 means 好色的男人。
The hanzi is dog radical on the left with 肖 on the right.I don't agree with this hanzi because in dict it means crazy.

犭+ 肖 is chio1 = 发 情 animals on heat. However, 广 韵 : 犭+ 肖 , 狂 也 . It also has an extended meaning, 出 风 头 showing off.

The is why you see Prof.Chiu own xiamen dict just put 口。It was teochew expert says it has siau sound.Prod.Xuchengchang put 鬼+肖.
宵 in chuanchiu don't have siau sound in chuanchiu

How does one say 美丽 in Hokkien (Specifically in Hui-An sect).

Is it sui li, bee li or mei li?

It's "bi le" (someone please help me with the tone numbers!).

In case you are unfamiliar with the spelling convention, the amove pronounced as "bee lay". 美麗 "Bee Lay" (or the reverse, Lay Bee) is quite a common Hokkien name for girls.

if expert cannot sure about the hanzi,you just know the meaning is more than enough..take the last one first.
