Even though 下 may be the original word for "ke7" or "kE7", more often 低 (not 底 which means "bottom") is used to mean "low".

In Xiamen, the transformation of "o" sound to "er" sound seems to happen more in broadcasting from radio and TV stations than in common conversation there. I suspect there might be a political motive in trying to please the Taiwanese listener because in Taiwan, "er" sound is commonly used in place of "o".
This is only my own observation. It might be wrong.

Books say only young people are saying this vowel.It simply mean more vowel in xiamen langauge.
I think ier,ierh is a bit too far

That's interesting. I wonder why they needed to construct the phonetic word 啉 for 'lim' (drink), when it already has the benzi 飲.

飲 wendu is im2,im3
baidu is am2
So it is not the benzi.In first minnan dict in 1800,the zi is wine radical on the left with 欠on right.

above last one should be iong.
The baidu am 飲 is used for 米湯like the phrase in 論語=一瓢飲。Here it is a noun .
