喫 is also defined to have meaning of 'eat' and 'drink', probably the 'eat' for that is a recent phenomenon.

some g corresponded to mid Chinese ng.

Yes, the 鹅 and 我 should have the same head, but in Teochew one become ga and one become wa (should be gwa).

h 喉入mainly for baidu.p,t,k for wendu.
gh retain in wu language is from 上古群母﹐minnan g is from 疑母。There are no g consonant in yue ﹐putomnghua and hakka.

I don't know what you wrote above because you didn't read any book on teochew but come out with your own theory .我 is a 疑母字 .In teochew you can drop the consonant but not in minnan.五可切=== 五 is g,可 baidu is khua2.So minnan is g+ua but teochew just ua .
wendu is ngonn which also fit in with 五=ngo+ kho become ngonn.
I have no money to buy more books or else I am sure I will be better.Start buying some good books instead of just sitting there.

experts only agree there may be consonant kwa in cantonese but certainly not teochew.
