風 quanzhou is huang as mentioned in many books. Tone number in China is 7 and 8 entering tones or 6 and 7 are entering tones in xiamen and ciangchiu styles. 1 and 2 yingyang ping.Taiwanese is 1 is yinping,2 is yinshang.I always use taiwanese style and avoid chuanchiu style which is without yangqu.
I prefer the tone numbers. I certainly cannot accept some taiwanese add r,x to mark the tone.POJ style or and those marking the tone with some lines aren't my taste as well.
I think in SEA and Taiwan chuanchiu languages are the least favorite regardless there 6.5 m in SEA and 9 m in taiwan. I can only hear hainn 還 (a tongan sound) and hing in Taiwanese tv drama but certainly not huinn as a pure chuanchiu sound.I haven't heard any chuanchiu vowel been used in taiwanese drama yet .You can hear chiangchiu sound i /enn a lot .Chiang chiu sound are their favorite. However they do use modified chuanchiu sound like 後 hio which is not correct chuanchiu sound.
I think all because of chuanchiu vowel is not natural like i /u.復元音in 雞﹐鉤﹐後 is too hard.
What's "cute" in Hokkien?
I think we must do some researches about why Taiwan preserve more original minnan words than people in SEA.Could it be the population or education? The issue of 漳廈泉濫 should be ingored here
In a country with so many minnan people living together,a guy with limited vocaburaly still stand a chance to learn words from someone. This is not the case in SEA where people from different 籍貫 living together.Only 50% are minnan in Penang Island. Or maybe they have what we call 文人as teacher in school who can speak near perfect minnan but not people in SEA.
I always take a pen to take down any unknown words use by the actors even for those minnan 象聲詞﹐I think every minnan in SEA has to do this to better their bin/ban lam ue/hua.
