蝌蚪泉州市方言志 =大头鱼，漳州市方言志= kap kuai
壁虎泉州市=sian lang ,漳州市= sin thang
四脚蛇泉州市=土地公蛇 tho ti kong tsua,漳州市=to ti
There is a guy from Penang saying that car 风车= hong tshia was invented by Penang people in newspaper.He is completely wrong.We can find in 泉州市方言志 and other small town 方言志。

some knowledge about quanzhou language.In xiamen/ciangciu we say
ta poo kiann but cuanciu is tapoo kann55
ca boo kiann but cuanciu is caboo a .
how = an cuann/nuann but cuaciu is ciunn a /ciunn a e.

thanks for your post. which let me remember the words 高裕 kou-lu and 洗肉 soe-hiak. that words i usually heard in the child time, but i am not hear in present time.

choan-chiu; 高裕 kou-lu, rich. 高裕人 kou-lu-lang, rich people
e-mng; ho-gia, rich. ho-gia-lang, rich people

siu-chui (e-mng), 洗肉 soe-hiak (choan-chiu) = 游泳 (mandarin) swimming

ciangciu also say u khang /lang.
we can just use the word 富 pu，伊真富。

that book saying the hokkien word tai-iat is from cantonese "第一, tai-iat", this author may be wrong.

let us compare " 第 " and " 一 " these two logograms, we would know this author wrongly.

第; te, ti (hokkien pronunciation) = tai (cantonese pronunciation)
一; iN, it (hokkien pronunciation) = iat (cantonese pronunciation)

第一, this word meaning "the first" in the hokkien and the cantonese too. but in the hokkien is pronounce as "te-it",
and in the cantonese is pronounce as "tai-iat", they are very different.

i guess that this hokkien word is a military term of ancient city-states which means the manoeuvre or parade.

The author is talking about directly taking the sound from cantonese .He is the one who found a very important dict in 1950s called 渡江书十五音。
I think the first word is 怠。

Many people didn't know that 明载 miann tsai is a joint word of
明仔早起 miann a tsa khi > miann tsai.

I just found a book called 金门话考释 give a benzi for tai iat=大逸。
逸是得意洋洋自认为高人一等骄态
some special sound from longhai sect .
There are 4 sects in longhai .海澄 is in shima sect.
石码片，九湖片，港尾片，角美片
a few words are not the same within shima sect like shima 瓜 kua but haicheng is kuai.shima 花 =hua haicheng =huai.
shima 关 =kuann ,haicheng=kuainn.shima 横 =huann, haicheng= huainn.
This is not the sound used in penang.

i think we can say ciangciu sound in malaysia isn't from haicheng but mostly from longxi which is ciangciu city now.
