Sui - beautiful

I have heard that in Dongbei/Manchurian putonghua they use the expression sui3-ling2 to mean beautiful. This sui3 would be the right sound and tone to be a cognate with Hokkien sui2.

Anyone know how to look this up?

The hanzi is 水灵＝水水灵灵 in 简明东北方言词典.The are more than 2 books in Taiwan say 水 is the benzi with some texts.

a scholar from china said the benzi is 女＋委。There are no 日母字 become s and it is 平声。

I think the hanzi for sui be 嫷. Does this seem right?

Thank you for the information on the dangdang Web site and also for the bigger version of the dictionary. My questions are, Is the abridged version an extract from the bigger version? Are the authors the same (马思周, 姜光辉) for both versions? I went to the Web site to search for the abridged version, but it didn't have it.

No ,it is by two other different authors.Is has only 3500 words compare to the new version with 7500 words.

Sorry to bother you again. You seem to possess both the abridged and bigger versions. Do you find the word 水灵 'beautiful' in the bigger version too?

Also, would you kindly inform me of the authors (or compilers), publisher, and year of publication of the abridged version? And ISBN number, if any?
