Hokkien Movies (and some other questions)

Post by jilang »

Hi

I was just wondering, in Taiwan (or anywhere else) have there been any movies done mainly in Hokkien/Taiwanese?

Also, sometimes in Hokkien I hear words like "si - (is)" and "siunn - think" pronounced with a "sh" sound making it sound a bit more like Mandarin. Is this an accent or a characteristic of a particular variant?

From the discussion on the other thread, I want to know how to read those tone marks written as two digit numbers (eg: 22, 55) and what the 6th tone (for variants that do have it) is pronounced.

Thanks

Thanks, ong. Looking at that, is the 2nd tone a rising tone?
What about the 6th tone's pronunciation?

Just that 一都,I can't agree with that young girl new aritlce on this.
4th tone become a strange thing to you simply because you were taught xiamen version is the standard. If you are huian,4th tone is a must.

Just that 一都,
I phrased my question poorly. So 一都 is the only town to have 8 tones?

I thought YongChun and XiaMen had exactly the same 4th tone, isn't this correct?
If you are huian,4th tone is a must.
So HuiAn 4th tone is definitely Image5?

To clarify, do Huian and Yongchun have 8 or 7 tones?
