I'm from Belawan, the port under the municipality of Medan. Coming from there, I know a lot of people from Bagan Siapi api. I understand a little bit of their variant of hokkien. I didn't know there was so much different variety of Hokkien before. I remembered the taiwanese pop songs were popular in the 80s and 90s. But I can't even understand a sentence of it, well maybe one or two. Huahaha...That's why we should learn english and mandarin.

Niuc, is there any online radio broadcasted in Medan/Penang Hokkien? I tried to find it on the web and found the link to Gita FM but it didn't work.
