learning methods

i was wondering what learning methods you guys used? currently i just write the character down with their meaning and pronunciation about 9 times then use cards to help me memorize them. with this system i can learn about 15 a day.

I think it's important that you learn them in their context. Otherwise even if you learn 15 a day you probably will also forget a lot. So just review a lot, and read a lot and try to apply what you have learned. Like creating sentences or writing diary. Furthermore it's probably a good idea when you not only write the single characters but also some 词 (two characters that mean one word).

That's a very valuable piece of advice. Chinese characters and words are of two different levels coz the different combinations of same characters can result in different words.
