This website is a life saver... Need to know how to pronounce 渊 in Hokkien for my baby's name. Anybody can help?
Many, many thanks in advance!
Hokkien pronounciation of 渊
Its romanization is ian1, so it rhymes with 鉛 (ian5, lead) but has a different tone; you might pronounce it either as "yen" or "en", or perhaps even as "yan", depending on your dialect. Its natural tone is high-flat (like the first tone in Mandarin), and after a tone change (if it is not the last character) it becomes middle-flat (like the natural tone of電).
