I've seen the "wing" of "wing chun" written your way, 詠. And I've seen it written as 永 and I've seen it written with the mouth radical before 永 (can't write it with my program). Now I know the one with the mouth radical is a different form for 詠, so that's okay. But, are you sure it's not supposed to be 永 for "wing chun". Since, the system was purportedly invented by a Buddhist nun and her name in English translation was "Forever Spring" and 永 means "forever".

Not completely on subject, but the name of the nun who invented it was Ng Mui. She passed it on to a girl named Wing Chun, so she could defend herself from some bandit that wanted to mary her.

The most common spelling is with 詠 for Praise Spring as in Yim Wing-chun. However, there is also the legend that the legend of Yim Wing-chun was created with the "fact" that Wing Chun Kyun was constructed in the Eternal (永) Spring Hall in the southern Shaolin temple, hence the alternative spelling.

Dear Wuxia,
Are you a student of White Eyebrows Kung Fu (from your e-mail address)? Wuxia is Mandarin for chivalry.
