Help in translation please?

Post by tkl7665 »

Hi, I am not sure if this is the right manner or the right place to do so, but I would appreciate any help provided...

I am from Singapore and the practice here is to register our name (alphabetical) in dialet. My sister is having problems finding out the Hokkien pronunciation for the following words.

轩, 广, 喆, 彦, 博, 丰

She is hoping to use these chinese characters as part of the name for her new born baby (my nephew)...

Can anyone help us on this?

Thanx in advance.

Hi Tkl7665

Congratulations for your new born nephew. :D It's a pleasant surprise for me that his name will be registered with Hokkien pronunciation. Many new generation Singaporeans have Mandarin spelling for given name instead, right?

Duaaagiii should be able to help better, but these are just suggestions:
轩 huan1 (not sure)
广 kong2
喆 -> dunno
彦 gan7
博 phok4
丰 hong1

hi niuc,

thanx thanx...

well, most new generation Singaporeans would have mandarin spelling as its easier, and as avoids the problem of having to find a name with nice characters, sounds nice (in both mandarin and their native dialet)...

I only have two pronunciations to add to niuc's list:
軒 hian1
喆 (哲) tiat4
