hair/salon translations

Post by Fatima »

hi everyone!

i have a few questions on stuff that deals with hair/salon stuff.

the first question was "fei faat" doesn't that mean to trim the hair? because cutting hair is "jeen tao faat." is coloring hair "yiem faat"? how do you say to "perm hair" in cantonese?

oh and another translation that isnt relevant to hair/salon words is the word "mien so/sou". Any ideas on the translation of that?

any applicable hanzi will be helpful and appreciated. thank you for all your hard work and help everyone.

1. we say both fei1 faat3 and zin2 (tau4) faat3 to mean to have hair cut, not particularly mean trim hair. Character for fei1 faat3 not sure, but some written as 飛髮.
2. jim5 faat3 染髮, coloring hair
3. din6 faat3 電髮, perm hair (hongkong only)
4. tong3 faat3 燙髮, perm hair (mainland cantonese)

no idea for the rest.
