It came as a shock for me to learn that "Taiwan has proficiency certification system for every language including Mandarin, Hakka and indigenous languages, but not Hoklo (Taiwanese Hokkien)" which is the language of the overwhelming majority of Taiwanese. The scrapping by the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) of the entire budget allotted to the Taiwanese Ministry of Education's Naional Languages Committee for developing a Hoklo (Hokkien) language proficiency certification system clearly shows the true colour and desire of KMT to kill the Hoklo (Hokkien) language. The absence of such a system will surely retard the development of Hokkien language. You can log on to the following website for more details:

It is high time for the majority Taiwanese Hokkiens to realise this and take concrete action to address this blatant discrimination against their language. Of course, it is rather too late for them to realise their folly of voting in a government which is out to kill their language. In future, I hope they will be wiser to vote for a government which is fair to all.
May all beings be well and happy.
