learning chinese through tv series/movies

Post by iwannalearnchinese »

Hi guys I want to improve my Chinese in any way. I have a bit of a background and knows a lot of basic words. Can you guys suggest me of exceptional tv series(interesting plot) which I can use to learn Chinese? It doesn't necessarily have to have basic Chinese words and stuff. Also, great movies can also be suggested. Thanks a lot :)

I would definitely suggest going to http://www.youku.com. They have the widest variety of videos on the web. As far as finding quality and good story lines, it is tough to find. On youku you can find American movies dubbed into Chinese. That is a lot of fun to watch especially if you know the movie really well.

Try http://www.IMDB.cn It is the chinese version of the internet movie database. You can type in any american movie and you will then find the chinese name. Take the chinese name and then put it into the youku or sina search.

Also check out this from http://www.popupchinese.com Every Friday they take an American movie dubbed in Chinese, and then have people guess which movie it is. They teach you some interesting vocabulary and grammar that is used in the movie dialogue.
