intermediate cantonese course?

Post by cbcdude »

I'm a canadian born chinese who is looking for a tape course to help improve my cantonese. I already know how to understand and speak it but it is not the greatest. Are there any good tape courses for someone like me? It seems like most of the ones I've seen are for beginners and I don't want to have to learn counting from 1 to 10 again. Thanks for the suggestions.

Where to buy FSI course in canada?

I'm thinking of getting the FSI cantonese tapes. Does anyone know where to get these in Canada?

Dear cbcdude,
If you can understand most of what they say in Cantonese language movies, then your proficiency in Cantonese is probably already beyond the level of the FSI language course.
The FSI series doesn't teach writing or reading Chinese.
It uses a modified form of the Huang-Kok Yale romanization to teach spoken Cantonese. At the back of the texts they have a glossary with hand-written Chinese characters.
