Hokkien names in Dutch Indies

Post by elmer »

Hi,

My grandfather had three sisters"

Lie Tiam Nio
Lie Giok Tjiam
Lie Giok Hwan

Lie Giok Hwan was written as 李玉環
In Singapore the name Tjiam was written as Cheam

Does anybody have an idea how the names of the other sisters may have been written?

thanks,
Elmer

Lie Tiam Nio = 李甜娘 (Sweet lady)
Lie Giok Tjiam = 李玉簪
Lie Giok Hwan = 李玉環

This is what I think. 簪 should be correspond to 環 if they're sisters. Both are accessories of ladies.
