Help in translating Chinese characters to hokkien

Post by Geglee »

Hi,

My boy Chinese name 皓泽. Anyone please help to translate to hokkien? We are thinking 皓 as in "How" but have no idea for 泽 in Hokkien. Thanks in advance.

皓 is Hou/Ho and NOT How/Hau

泽 is Tiak.

泽 (澤) is 'tiak' in Cuanciu/Quanzhou variant, but in E-mng/Xiamen (and may be Ciangciu/Zhangzhou) it is 'tik'. For this word, my variant is the same as E-mng. 毛澤東 is 'mo`5-tik8-tong1' in my variant.

It is up to his discretion to choose which variant he likes.

If he choose the defacto standard ie. E-mng/xiamen version, then it should be 'tik'.
