Hi All,
If you log into your account, then go to:

My board style: prosilver Special Edition -> prosilver
Apparently "prosilver" is what we were used to, and "prosilver Special Edition" is the layout many of us have been seeing for the past 1-2 weeks.
How to get the "nice" (old) format for the Forum
Re: How to get the "nice" (old) format for the Forum
I thought the whole thing had gone down for good for a while there, but it seems everything is in order again now!
Last time this happened and the forum came back again, I went and copied and pasted all the example sentences and discussions about meanings of words that I could find into a document that is now 22 pages long. So nothing will get lost for ever.
I'm still a bit sore about three pages of grammatical notes with examples that I managed to lose last year!

Yes, I got a bit nervous this time too, because it was down for about 3 days, but I remembered a similar occasion in the past, so didn't get too panicky.
You're right. There's SO much valuable information that has been posted on this Forum, it would be a total disaster if it was permanently lost. I have extracted some threads in the past, but not in a consistent way. One very unfortunate aspect in the history of this Forum is that at one stage it changed hosts / hosting-package, and the old host had a different encoding system for Chinese characters than the new one. All posts before that change (although transferred to the new host) hence have "nonsense" where the original Chinese characters appeared - not such a serious loss when a character is only present to indicate clearly what is being said in (say) POJ, but a very big loss for all the discussions about benzi or alternative characters.
Hope you'll again extract all important threads from the time you did your last extraction.

As soon as it came back on I went on a little tour of extraction. I have to admit it was mainly the Penang Hokkien things that I have chased up. Especially those about definitions of words and grammar with example sentences. It now runes to about 30 pages.
