Create new sub-Forum for Hokkien names?
I notice that we tend to get a lot of one-off posts for Romanisation of Chinese names into Hokkien - which is not a bad thing, as it shows that there are people out there who still make the effort to name their children using Hokkien pronunciation.
Perhaps for good spring-cleaning, a separate sub-Forum should be created. It also makes searching easier, especially when certain names recur.

Ah, so the ISpeakMin.com website is yours! I have visited it a couple of times before. Yes, I suppose we can start some discussions in Chinese there. Do you mean that you plan to create the Hokkien names sub-Forum there? Though, this Forum may still benefit those who are a bit rusty in reading Chinese.
I think there are still some occasional posts to the non-Hokkien sections of this ChineseLanguage.org site, though judging from the statistics, it is clear that the Hokkien posts dominate!

In other words, it's maintained by a few people in their own sub-forum but I own the highest admin right for the entire domain. I sponsor the space for free and I can create anything I want in there, as long as I inform my buddies.
Sub-forum for Hokkien name ? Not a problem. Besides, it does NOT have to be in Chinese. What I am trying to say is, we have more people working on wider range of Min languages there, shall we just move over, and we can have our own discussion in English. The interface can be changed into English according to your preference too.
I own a sub-forum called <Overseas Min> to discuss about Penang Hokkien and so on. Let me know and we shall move some topics there. It's a little risky here in chineselanguage.org because none of us is the admin. Your thought ? Shall we phase out from here ?

Well, I must say the idea of moving sounds very nice. A paradise free from spammers and trolls who have an irrational hatred of Penangites and Teochews! I have only one reservation about moving to the Ispeakmin forum, and that is that there are people who are very keen to learn Hokkien cannot read Mandarin and have no desire to learn to read Mandarin. If you can't read or input Mandarin, it is very hard to find the forum.
To remedy this, the Ispeakmin forum (or part of it) needs to become bilingual, with forum headings written in English as well as in Mandarin. Perhaps a new section devoted to discussion in English? I'd be happy to post some of the things I've written here to start up the english section (the Sam chu keng etc.) there if that were the case.
At the moment, typing "hokkien name" into google brings up this forum as the first result, that is why people come here. 福建話 名字 doesn't produce any results. This probably has something to do with the fact that only Southeast Asian Chinese (whose primary internet language is English, I guess) use "Hokkien" and 福建話 to refer to the language that would be called 台語 or 閩南話 in the rest of the Mandarin-speaking world. For the Ispeakmin forum to be more successful, it needs to be one of the top results that comes up in google when you type in "Hokkien forum", then it will attract more readers.
Finally, (and this is the most important point) I think that knowledge of Hokkien needs to be accesible to people who want to speak Hokkien, but have absolutely NO background or interest in learning Mandarin. By discussing things in Mandarin we are helping to kill Hokkien (outside China and Taiwan) by encouraging people to believe that they have to learn Mandarin first and then move on to Hokkien as a side interest (for most people this will take years of work). At the moment it is still easy to learn Cantonese through English, just like any other foreign language. For Hokkien there is a severe lack of teaching materials in English. and I would hope that this forum helps to remedy this problem.
