In many HK movies ( for example THE STORMRIDERS )
one can hear often the word ADE or sth. like this,
which can be an old word for father.
I haven't found it in any Cantonese book or dictionary.
Can anybody tell me what this word means and
how it is pronounced and written correctly (in Western Romanization with tones)

You need to break it first into two parts, a3
and de1. a3 is the "Ah" that is prefixed to
many names, and de1 is kind of an archaic or
northern term for 'father'.
On the other hand, there is de1di4, which is
a loan from English 'daddy'.
