Help needed. Translate mandarin name to hokkien (minnan)

Post by ernestchee »

Hi people,

My son is due to be born in December this year. My wife and I have chosen a chinese name for him already and it's as here, 徐晨曦 . Xu Chen Xi ( Hanyu Pinyin )

Anyone can help to provide the hokkien (minnan) pronunciation and spelling for this name? I need it to be registered in his birth certificate come this December. Thank you.

Regards,
Ernest Chee

That would be Chhî Sîn-hi in the Church Romanization. In SG/MY I think the usual spelling would be Chee Shin Hee or Chee Sin Hee. "Shin" might be better for heading off Cantonese plays on words. :P
