If verb, it means old way of showing respect or expressing thanks, usually grasp hands in front of breast and bow down, the more respectful, the lower one bows. The tone goes like' down, flat'

If noun, it's more complicated with concept of politics, which is not really a good word. The tone is 'curve, down'

According to the pronounciation of "zuo yi", it could mean a number of things. Among them, "making clothes," "making a pleading guesture."
