I am a school teacher and I have two students in my Earth Science class that speaks Mandarin language. They are very limited in English. What books are available that will translate from English to Mandarin.

is this malaysian mandarin the one that they say

si instead of shi

and

wo zi dao instead of wo ji dao

because i dont prefer this dialect..just IMO
and is there a reason why they pronounce it like that, is it because of cantonese influence i.e. cantonese say zi dao for ji dao (know/understand)
