Thanks.I like bring your attention to article by Prof.Wu shouli from your country on tiam which is not malay as you always think.
See www.tmn.idv.tw which i gave above.It is minnan word.Malay also use diam as stay which also has a web site from your country with the hanzi for it.

Actually I saw the article before, but I still had a little question at that time about the origin of "tiam" because the article dosen't come to a conclusion of tiam's hazi but gives us some choices. And later I learnt that Malay also use this word as "diam" which made me curious. Therefore I wanted to know how you think it's origin. Now I know there is usage of "tiam" in Hokkien community around Minnan, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia, so I agree that "tiam" should be Hokkien origin.

Hakka in Taiwan also use "tiam".

Dear Kaiah,
If a 1000 years old dict-guangyun gives the hanzi tiam.I cannot see it is a malay word.Many malay words use by Malaysian are from Indian sanskrit like sukha=suka =like,love.We cannot be sure about word like durian because Thai,cambodia also using it for thousand years.
I 'd to like ask you from an article in Prof Lim in edutech.edu.tw.He said that tawainese made a mistake in saying Fish as huu but not hi and hy.Is that true?I am also saying hu for years.
