Hi, everyone! I'm also starting to learn Cantonese and was wondering if anyone would like to practice posting Cantonese with English letters. Like you, I'm starting late, though my father is Chinese. Can we try a few sentences like below:
Nei ho ma, wo hei Beginner. Wo hei MeiGwokyan. Nei ne?
Can we practice Cantonese with English letters?

Dojeh sai! , I believe you're saying you're not Chinese, you're English. You can speak Cantonese. Are you Chinese?
My response in English: Yes, my father is Chinese. He is in San Francisco. I'm in Hawaii.
My response in Cantonese: Hai, ngor ga Baba hei JungGwok Yahn. Keui hei yihga San Fan Si jo yeh. Ngo hei yihga Hawaii jo yeh.
Did I say that right? I'm not sure how to say "I live in Hawaii. He lives in San Francisco."
Dojeh sai, Sai Gai jai!
I don't understand all your statements. Can you help clarify? I'm still very much a beginner.:0(
What does "Leung wai ho ma?" mean?
I believe your next statement says that you are also an Englishman and can speak Cantonese.
Does "Ngo hok jo hou noi" mean that "you have'nt learnt for so long"?
Does "Nei wah nei hai Yinggwok yahn" mean "Are you an Englishman"?
"Nei jyuh hai bindo?" Does this mean "Where do you live?"
My response:
Ngor m hei Yinggwok yahn, Ngo hei Meigwok yahn. Ngo jyuh di Honolulu, Hawaii. Nei neh? Bin sinsi?(Which city?).
Please correct me if I'm not putting it together right. Thank you very much!
P.S. Kung hei fat choy!:0)

Re: Can we practice Cantonese with English letters?
Dear all,
I'm just surfing the net and find this interesting forum.
I'm a Chinese, can speak Cantonese and Mandarin. I'm not sure about the rules of this forum, can I join if I'm a Chinese or it is only for those non-chinese?
By the way....
To Beginner:
"Leung wai ho ma?" ...Leung means two, Leung Wai means both of you, ho ma means how are you?
"Ngo hok jo hou noi" ....it's a positive statment, means I've learnt it for quite a long time.
"Nei wah nei hai Yinggwok yahn" .......a reported speach, you said that you were a British.

Well if there are any discriminatory rules based on race I won't be coming here any more!
