Hokkien books.

I was looking through the Hokkien books on offer at the big bookstore in Wangfujing in Beijing today.

I bought 新家波閩南話詞典, and 馬來西亞的三個漢語方言.

The latter is very well compiled with words and phrases in Mandarin with side by side translations in Cantonese, Hakka, and ...Teochew. Aaargh!!! If it gave Hokkien instead of Teochew it would be a bestseller back home. I bought it because it was still useful nonetheless.

Example of entry:

打架 - Cant.: 打交 ts'ou21kau55 嗌交 Nai33kau55 ?? Na21lO35; Hakka: 吵交 ts'au21kau33; Teo.: 相罵 sio~33me11

(N, O, represent the IPA symbols)

They also had a dictionary called something like 閩語與古漢語詞典, as well as a whole series of different Fangyan Cidian, but they were out of the Xiamen one. It is the same as is advertised (but inaccessible) on the glossika site.
