This end...that end

Post by Ah-bin »

I haven't worked out how to say this. I'm particularly interested (as always) in the way to say this in Penang Hokkien.

How would you say:

end of a road (this one is lō•-bóe 路尾 I am sure)

the two ends of a string

the two ends of a stick

from this end to that end

I suspect it has something to do with bóe 尾 but I have some feeling that it can only refer to one end point of a thing.

Is it the case that in Hokkien nothing has two ends, only a thâu and a bóe?

How about "along" is that just "tòe"?

How to say

walk along the coast

at the moment I would say

kiâⁿ tòe hái-kíⁿ Hái-kîⁿ 行綴海墘

But again I'm not sure whether this is natural Penang usage or not

Thanks!

Wow, cool! Hope you have Hokkien speakers around. Where will it be in Thailand - Bangkok or a smaller place?
