詩篇 第23篇
大衛的詩
耶和華是我的牧者, 我無欠缺.
伊互我倒佇清翠的草埔, 導我佇安靜的水邊.
伊互我的靈魂精英, 為著伊的名導我行義的路.
我雖然行過死蔭的山谷, 亦呣驚災害,
因為你及我佇[口的];
你的槌, 你的柺, 安慰我.
佇我對敵的面前, 你給我排設筵席;
你用油抹我的頭殼, 我的杯滿出來.
恩典及慈悲的確隨我到一世人;
我欲永遠徛起佇耶和華的厝.

Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Re: Hokkien Biblical Passages
Dear Hong,
Yes there are two works which give "jip/ dzip" for xia:
1873 Amoy dictionary by Rev. Douglas: jip (j == dz/ dzh)
1960 Amoy language course by Bodman: jip
However:
1998 廈門方言詞典: ----------------------------: lip
The XMFYCD explains further: 古日母字漳州老派讀[dz-], 新派中有人讀[l-], 廈門不論老派新派都讀[l-].
This confirms exactly what you said.
Regards,
Aurelio

Dear Niuc,casey,
I wonder do you use kam(敢) in your daily conversation in question (是非句,反問句).
something from old post 父親 ,I just found out it is a 白話文 not guhanyu or fangyan.So it is a word not even a century old.
The zi 父 is P?? in ancient chinese languages because there is no consonat f in every chinese language until dynasty sung.eastling.org dict give p...and Lirulong said it is ba in ancient times.
The dialect of china undergone changes because of Putonghua which bring in too many Japanese words like 政府,圖書館,.etc.
150 years ago no hokkien people understand what is the meaning of these words.

Yes, "kam2" (or "ka*2) is being used in our daily conversation, e.g., "kam2 u7 ia*2 ?" (Is is true?). In Malaysia and Siingapore, perhaps we use more often "mana (Malay word) u7 ia*2 ?" influenced by the Malay language.

Re: Hokkien Biblical Passages
Hi all
My usage of kam2 is similar to Casey, sometimes pronounced as kan2. We use mana also.
Although kam2 & ka*2 should be of the same character 敢, ka*2 can be used as kam2 or for another meaning, depends on context.
敢有影? ka*2 u7 ia*2? = kam2 u7 ia*2? = is it true?
敢有 kam2 u7 = is it?
敢有 ka*5 u7 = probably there is / I afraid there is.
About l/j/d, there were discussions in this forum. We pronounce it as somewhere between d & l. This is also the phenomena found by Prof. Goh http://olddoc.tmu.edu.tw/chiaushin/marker.htm .
Hong, I think it's better to pronounce and write it as j since this is the original sound. Cuanciu Hokkien has lost this sound, now E-mng also. Merging of sounds will make a language "poorer".
