Hi Everyone,
Niuc drew my attention to the following link, which was given to him by a friend.
李永球的紀錄片:海賊佮王船

Pretty exciting - a documentary which is almost 100% in Hokkien! The only non-Hokkien bit I remember is a very short segment in Bahasa Indonesia, where the film-maker talks to an Indonesian taxi-driver.
I was quite thrilled to see this, both from the linguistic as well as the historical point of view. This looks like *real* Hokkien history - made by a Hokkien-speaker, *about* the Hokkien-speaking community!
A documentary 98% in Hokkien

Ha! It's wonderful thanks Sim. The boat at the beginning reminds me a bit of Kiu-ong-ia!
I bet they would have deified Ned Kelly here if Ang-mO were into doing such things.
And it's in Bagan-oe as well! The first time I've ever heard Niuc's style of Hokkien! definitely easier for me to understand than Taiwanese or Amoy Hokkien.
I wish someone would do stuff like this for Penang....
