Re: Beautiful Hokkien Songs
Hey folks,
thanks for sharing so much stuff! I was a bit busy the last days so I haven't yet been able to hear much of it but I'll catch up on that starting from now
For everybody who likes rock, I also have something to recommend. I usually tend to listen to the songs I stumble upon and grow to like and not care about researching the interprets, so my information about the band itself is kind of sparse. I do know that they call themselves 滅火器 (Fire Ex., I'd give you the Hokkien reading for the characters but I can't find the word as a whole right now, only the seperate characters, so I'm not sure if I'd choose the right reading) and come from Ko-hiông and that's about that. Their songs are not exclusively in Hokkien but the vast majority is. And although deciphering their songtexts is always a bit of a pain because they write them in an even more mandarinized way than I'm used to, I like their songs enough to work through that
If you want to check them out, these songs might give you a good impression, but there's more of course:
心內話(sim-lāi-oē): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2lmdhsZQ_g
我的廢人朋友(góa ê hòe-jîn pêng-iú): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSKVu3bDnT4
悲歌(pi-koa): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etX5HbnhwZA
天鳥(thiⁿ-chiáu? thian-chiáu?): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG9wRbZGo3Y

Hi, Abun,
Thank you very much for the listed songs.
I listen to all the songs.
Beautiful & meaningful lyrics. Like it.
Note: I think the second song had the wrong link.
Hope you share more songs here.
I will be camping on this thread regularly for updates.

Re: Beautiful Hokkien Songs
aBun,
It would indeed be Bia̍t-hóe-khì (with dialects variations on hóe), but I'm guessing everyone refers to them in Mandarin, even in Hoklo conversation, since this word hasn't been adopted into Hoklo AFAIK.
