It is a problem we didn't study enough old text.淫 baidu is tam5 ,wendu is im5.In 說文解字 two meanings have nothing do with sex.It means 久雨為淫。 Another is 浸漬=受液體浸泡。
澹 is just 水波蕩漾。

I think people maybe interested about the word ting7=hard.Tha hanzi 木+奠 from 集韻-木理緊密。從木質堅實引申泛指其他東西堅實。

The benzi for guess is 約=大概 baidu ioh4.It is not 臆。
滕 thin 5 集韻- 水超涌也。今引申為倒水﹐又可用來特指喝酒---愛滕。
耳+真 =tan5 集韻-聲盈耳。響聲
滇 tinn7 集韻-大水貌。引申為水滿﹐又引申為東西和人滿﹐

I haven't heard anyone say verb and noun for brake/skid.剎車/剎車器
禁集韻-制也。
禁車 kim3-chhia for verb .車禁 for noun.

Benzi for kut4-lat8 hard-working is from 呂氏春秋-堯且屈力﹐而況眾人乎。
Benzi for window thang1 is not 窗 but dotted cliff radical with 同 inside it(like床) 。It is from 集韻。

Hi, Hong,

Just curious: I checked my 康熙字典. "广+同" is given in the 集韻 definition as 他東切, 音通, 義同 - i.e. "righteousness". Any possibility that 'thang1' for "window" 窗 is an example of the zh-/t- and ch-/th- relationships between Mandarin and Min (e.g. 中 zhong1/tiong, 轉 zhuan3/tuan, 傳 chuan2/th'uan)? Or is 窗 in Minnan pronounced as "ch'ng", following the pattern of 裝 cng?

窗 has only wendu chong1 .kangxi dict is wrong for giving 舍響。the last word should be 食 with radical like 鄉 on the left .It is same with 向 so 釋文引韓詩=向-北向窗也。
