Yeah, yours was the first time I became aware that phi(nn) has optional nasalization. Thanks for confirming that other variants also have that optional for phai(nn).

The words with nn or without nn are mentioned in different qing period dict .Some words quanzhou dict are without nn but you can find that zhangzhou dict are with nn.
We have to check tongan qing period dict about phai or phainn.
For example amoy qing period dict 八音定诀,
怕 pha or phann are wendu
phe is baidu which is lost by now.
