Yes, our Hokkien is quite close to Taiwanese Hokkien and we have no problem understanding Taiwanese TV programs. Actually Taiwanese Hokkien is a mixed dialect, although in TV mostly they say khi3 (to go) occassionally I heard khy3 (which is exactly the same as ours).
'to cry': I heard both khau3 and hau2 used in Taiwanese. Although usually we use khau3, sometimes we use hau2 also, especially for crying aloud.

I say KHAU pek KHAU bo (cry father cry mother) but mang hau (Don't cry).
