My math teacher posed a question wondering what is the name of the Chinese alphabet used today to solve math equations for algebra? The Americans use the Roman alphabet (a-z) to substitute numbers for letters to solve algebra equations. What do the Chinese use? Thank you,
Diane

That's an interesting question!
Chinese use the same Roman alphabet as you do for the math equations. Specially, X, Y, Z. We call it "wei zhi shu", which means unknown number.
