Pudgy, dumpy, stumpy.

Post by Kobo-Daishi »

Dear readers,
In the CEDICT dictionary, they have the following Mandarin entry in pin yin romanisation:
矮墩墩 [ai3 dun1 dun1] /pudgy/dumpy/stumpy/
For this entry, would the character 墩 be pronounced in Cantonese as deon1 or dan1 in jyut pin romanisation?
So, would the entry in Cantonese be
矮墩墩 [ai2 deon1 deon1] /pudgy/dumpy/stumpy/
or
矮墩墩 [ai2 dan1 dan1] /pudgy/dumpy/stumpy/?
Thank you.

Hi, re enquiry : Pudgy/dumpy/stumpy/ it would be (ai2 deon1 deon1). In Yale romanization it would be ((ng)ai deun deun). Notice the optional nasal 'ng' initial.
Hope this has helped.
