Taiwanese Reading Materials

Post by Ah-bin »

Amazing....a 300 page book of Taiwanese folktales and legends, all nicely romanised and explained.

Also very interesting is that they pronounce 傳 as chuan5 (chhòan). I had always thought of this as a Malaysian thing!

Even better, (well, for those of us interested in northern M'sian Hokkien) it turns out to be in Chiang-chiu style Hokkien!

Great resource. Àmhoanná cêng cāmmá tō sī toà tī Thô'áhn̂g oá Kusoaⁿ hit pêng. Strangely enough I barely ever heard so much as a "-uiⁿ" ending the whole time I was there. I think "-uiⁿ" is alive and well in Gîlân tho.

傳 in TW is generally thoân (verb) or toān (noun). I noticed lots of mistakes in the text. Outstanding resource otherwise!
