Dear fellow forumers.

Your expertise to assist in the translation of chinese name to dialect.

Appreciate if you can assist on this matter as my wife and I are strong believer in the presevation of our cultural roots.

My princess name is

Guo1 En1 Qi2

Guo1 En1 Ting2

For me, my Guo was translated to Quek.

Thank you in advance for helping.

Hi vinc1281:

I am glad to know that you and your wife intend to preserve our culture by spelling your baby's name in ancestral language. ^_^

However, it's quite risky if you provide just phonetic of Mandarin without Chinese characters. The possible syllables in Mandarin are lesser by 50% than Hokkien, therefore many characters that sound alike in Mandarin may sound very different in Hokkien.

So I am just guessing......

郭恩琪 Quek + Oon + Kee
郭恩婷 Quek + Oon + Teng

Hi Airy, congrats!

毅 = Gē -> can also be spelled as Gae, Ghae, Gei, Ghei, etc...
轩 = Hian -> also Hean, Hyan, Hien, Hyen, Hyean, etc...

Hi, twinkie,

Here you go:
王欣穎 - Ong Hin Eng
王思婷 - Ong Su Theng / Ong Si Theng / Ong Sze Theng (the pronunciation of really depends on which sub-dialect of Hokkien your family belongs to).

Regards,
Mark
