王力宏 call himself Wang Li Hom in english, but it is supposed to be Hong.
Some say KongZi with a clear -ng sound, and some say Komzi with an -m sound.

Can someone explain? Does this vary with dialect? What about cantonese and other chinese languages?

I've found there is very little standardization when it comes to romanizing peoples' names. Not all Chinese people, especially those that are older, will use pinyin to transliterate their names. Hong in pinyin should become hung in wade-giles, though. Hum might have been a typo or simply just a transliteration that someone made publicly that just stuck
