Is there an instant translation site for Mandarin?

We have a an 8th grade student who has arrived here directly from China and speaks only Mandarin. We are very frustrated that we cannot communicate with her nor is she able to learn anything in subject areas. With my Spanish speaking students I use Mezzofanti and type instructions to them, hit a key and voila, instant, if not perfect translation. Is there anything like this for English to Mandarin?

I don't know of any instant phonetisizing software, but if you go to:
http://babelfish.altavista.com

there you can type english, and select translate to mandarin chinese. The translation(albiet a rough translation) will come up in chinese characters.

This should be easily readable by your chinese student, and may aid in teaching, or communicating simple phrases.
