Ni hao!

Would someone please tell me what the bottom-right component of 鳞 is and means?

Also, how does the etymology of 鳞 work? The 'fish' part is obvious. How does the 'rice ' fit in. And of course, the unknown component.

The right part of 鱗 is a phonetic. The 'rice' part is actually 炎.
